Best gaming graphics card for old pc

Last response: in Graphics & Displays

Hey all, I'm fed up of playing a choppy battlefield 2 and I'm now willing to invest in a new graphics card. However, my pc is quite old here are the specs...

Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.090804-1435)

Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 2048MB RAM
Page File: 721MB used, 1944MB available
Windows Dir: C:\WINDOWS
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
DX Setup Parameters: Not found
DxDiag Version: 5.03.2600.5512 32bit Unicode

Currently using NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500. What would be a good graphics card to get for this sort of pc?

Thanks in advance

Hey makegirlscry,

In order to answer this we will also need your power supply information, and your motherboard specs (is it an AGP slot?) If you dont know just post a link to your manufacturers profile for your system.

As deadlockedworld said, we'd need to know which slot type you have (AGP?). It would also help to know your power supply specs - not just the wattage but also the amperage ratings for the +3.3v, +5v & +12v rails. Of the three, the +12v is the most important. But assuming you have an AGP slot & a good enough power supply, you might wanna consider this Radeon X1950 Pro for just $65 at TigerDirect:
