Help, I have A HP Pavilion Dv7 1264 with AMD Turion x2 64 bit. I tried running Mastercam X at my friends work, and the HASP would not work when I plugged it in. It only seems to work with Intel. Is this a problem with my computer ? Mastercam has not gotten back to me yet. Is it possible to replace my AMD with Intel and what would my limitations be. Thanks. I am interested because I am in school for CAD/CAM. Any Advice ? :(

Processor brands dont mix. If you have an amd processor then the motherboard is ONLY for amd processors and an intel processor wont work with it and i doubt it would even fit in the socket. If your trying to do Mastercam X though it (oddly) says that it only supports intel processors for some reason.

Thanks for the info. I saw that on their web site too, only for intel compatible Processors, but other people, who I guess don't know alot, say there is no difference as far as programs go. Guess I'll have to win the lotto and but an Intel Home computer. Thanks :hello:

If it works for Intel, it will work for AMD, only exception if it requires a specific subset of special instructions like SEE4 or if program checks for cpu's identification string for Intel tagging.
