Hello,
How do I know the onboard graphics are working properly and Is there any advantage to adding a graphics card like a GeForce GT220?

1) You know they are working properly, if you have output on the screen (it isn't blank) and you have installed the associated drivers. There really isn't much of a benchmark you can use to test on-board video.

2) Depends on your uses... Standard PC (Office, Email, Web) - No, Light Gaming - Yes

the 7025 is good for basic display any pcie video card will produce better results
aslong as it was made with in the last 2 years
.
7025 intigrated graphics is a bit dated as they now past the 8k 9k series of nvidia related model names.

also integrated gpu is taking away from your over all system Ram.
