I bought an ASUS EAH4350 that is supposed to come with 512MB DDR2 memory.

On GPU-Z , that shows correctly as 512MB but in Catalyst Control Center, click on the left pane, select Information Center / Graphics Hardware, it shows as 1GIG . ????

Reinstall drivers.
If I were you I wouldn't complain, or even care.

its just memory that its getting from the system ram..... hence the "hyper memory" type. just as an example, mine reads at 2303MB Hyper memory and i only have a 512MB card
