Could i use 1066mhz ram or higher with a motherboard supports 800only

I have a ASUS P5N-D Motherboard has Dual Channel supported only to 800MHz DDR2 max and using Quad Core 2.66MHz CPU. Would be ok to use 1066 or higher MHz Ram? or would it just make it slower?
