Need help building a gaming PC

So i'm tired of the choppyness, graphics lag, and all other assortment of problems. I'm looking to build myself an amazing system that won't need to be updated for a while. This is where the problem starts. I know little about what "flows" well together. So far all i have is a graphics card which would be the Radeon HD 5870. After that i was told that the AMD Phenom II would be a good Processor to choose. Money really isn't an issue, but my lack of expertise is. So i turn to you all in hope of help.

Thank you.

with that rez the HD 5870 your thinking about would be over kill but you could always upgrade the monitor latter with that GPU

I would look into a HD 5770 for that rez but if you want room to upgrade HD 5850 or the HD 5870
  7. I can always spot for a new Monitor. I'm just used to the res. The card is a definite purchase.
  8. I am not a fan of intel bad luck in the past however if you want a flawless system amd and ati where meant for each other

go amd phenom with your ati graphics card all the way
  9. Well the system i spced with your HD 5870 and this monitor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236049 I think would make a nice system for gaming and room to xfire latter and OC if you like

Anyways if your stuck on AMD you can go that way
  10. Niklas can i ask why you chose the Intel Core i5-750 over the Phenom II?
  11. remember i am completly biased so its your preference that matters

    my build

gigabite ud4 am3 board with usb 3.0 and sata 3.0 support

amd phenom 2 quad (deneb edition) 3.0 ghz

hd 5770 graphics card (xfx only!!!)

velociraptor hdd (great seek times and cant aford ssd!!!)

adata ddr3 gaming series ram ( clocked to 1600 )

my system runs flawlessly no lag or hicups to speak off tested with occt torture for 8hrs with no errors
  12. From reviews its a bit better CPU
  13. I really am enjoying all of the information. Please keep it coming, and niklas the system you provided seems like a powerfull build for the price. I'll look further into it.
  14. good luck in what ever you decide to get
  15. Thanks Dark. Niklas those reviews are suprising. Too bad i gave up WoW. My games of choice now are AvP3 and BF: Bad company2
  16. Crysis here!!!! and some TF2 im addicted
  17. Yeah crysis runs but not well. right now i have a 9600gt,4 gigs of some crap ram and an E8400
  18. Roughly what are you looking to spend? I know you said money isn't an issue, yet people are recommending parts/builds in the $1000-2000. Is that your range?

I don't care one way or another if you go AMD or Intel

Hell my next PC might be a AMD ( just trying to give you info to help you make a choice you feel fits you ) :)

Since i landed a new job, and have been saving now for such a project 2500 - 3000 wouldn't be out of the question, but saving money is always welcome in this economy.
  21. I run Crysis in Very High settings with aa on 4x with frame rates around 45-55 depending on whats going on in the game with aa on 2x i get around 55-65 and with aa offf i get 65+
  22. i spent roughly 1500 all together on my rig

On what rez does this HD 5770 runs crysis @ 55 + fps on very high setting with 4Xaa ?
  24. 1280 X 1024

im afraid to run it 4X in 1920 x 1080
  25. Crysis is taxable
  26. I was going to say what am i doing wrong because with my HD 5850 on very high setting and 2Xaa i only get about 35 FPS avg @ 1680X1050

So anyways crysis is a GPU pig lol you whould need a HD 5970 to get 60 FPS @ 1920x1080
  27. you guys are making me jealous lol
  28. lol
  29. yea im sure if my res was any higher i wouldnt get past 25 fps lol
