Need help building a gaming PC

So i'm tired of the choppyness, graphics lag, and all other assortment of problems. I'm looking to build myself an amazing system that won't need to be updated for a while. This is where the problem starts. I know little about what "flows" well together. So far all i have is a graphics card which would be the Radeon HD 5870. After that i was told that the AMD Phenom II would be a good Processor to choose. Money really isn't an issue, but my lack of expertise is. So i turn to you all in hope of help.

Thank you.

with that rez the HD 5870 your thinking about would be over kill but you could always upgrade the monitor latter with that GPU

I would look into a HD 5770 for that rez but if you want room to upgrade HD 5850 or the HD 5870

Roughly what are you looking to spend? I know you said money isn't an issue, yet people are recommending parts/builds in the $1000-2000. Is that your range?

Since i landed a new job, and have been saving now for such a project 2500 - 3000 wouldn't be out of the question, but saving money is always welcome in this economy.

I was going to say what am i doing wrong because with my HD 5850 on very high setting and 2Xaa i only get about 35 FPS avg @ 1680X1050

So anyways crysis is a GPU pig lol you whould need a HD 5970 to get 60 FPS @ 1920x1080
