Safe Mode

I want to restore a computer back to factory settings. I have done it in windows 7 and vista but using system recovery(no need for discs). i can't find anything in windows exp that will allow me to do that. I cant' get it to start in safemode so that i can select recovery. Where oh where do i find it and how can i do this??? I am pulling my hair out. Please help

XP, generally speaking, predates this practice and people were expected to use physical media. Typically it was provided with the unit. If you don't have that, then you are looking at an uphill climb that may well be impossible.

However, on some units you would press a special key at boot to launch the restore partition.

With so few details to go on, all anyone can do is tell you to look for one of those two things.
