Phenom II x3 ddr3 1600 or ddr3 1333

Which Ram do I run? DDR3 1600 or DDR3 1333. I've provided links to all the items I'm thinking about putting in this machine. Just need a little advice is all. Thanks!

  1. Ill opt for DDR 3 1600mhz if you want to use the ASUS motherboard that you posted
  2. DO NOT go with the 3 sticks, AMD only supports dual channel, If you are going to overclock get the 1600 if not get the 1333.

Go with 2x2 Gig, Then you can add 2x2Gig more later if you want to.
  3. Hi cibor and welcome to Tom's hardware forum.

Go with this .GSkill Ripjaws 1600 and safe ur money since a 6GB kit can only run in single channel in ur mobo or any AMD mobo.
  4. Yeah, but the 6GB kit that he selected is 3x2GB.

Budget Difference +$30 Apples to Apples, and $60 Apples to Oranges (RAM).

**Please note, the DDR that you choose is a 2X(3X1) -> 6XDDR sticks in a 4XDDR Stick Slots and meant to a Tri/Hexa Channel MOBO; meaning it won't work with your ASUS Dual/Quad Channel MOBO:
    Certified DDR:
    ASUS M4A78T-E {Memory Support List {QVL}}- http://usa.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=cf8IZzbU4m6GHKnW
    Tested DDR:

    Corsair - http://www.corsair.com/configurator/product_results.aspx?id=867651

If you are installing Windows x64 then you will need a minimum of 4GB of RAM.
  6. I disagree in the GTX465, the GTX460 is better price performance and the EVGA 1373-AR comes with lifetime warranty too.
  7. @saint19 - ^ Disagree with OP choice which was the {-TR} = 2 Year Warranty http://www.evga.com/support/warranty/
    The EVGA 01G-P3-1373-AR is ($250) / (+$80) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130568&Tpk=EVGA%201373-AR :non:

For that price you're getting close to the GTX 470 pricing.

  9. WAS a suggestion if u don't like it don't comment it.

And the QVL is only a guide that doesn't mean that only that RAM works with the mobo.
  10. ^ I listed both Certified {QVL to ASUS} AND Tested. Ditto with EVGA/GTX 465.
