Hello,

My motherboard supports SLI but I have been hearing a lot about ATI's HD cards really kicking Nvidia's butt recently.

So the question is for about $150 USD should i get a nvidia card and do sli later (or upgrade to a new card) or just stick with one ATI HD card? sli would seem to be the best choice for future upgrades but many games do not use dual GPUs to their max so a better single card might be the way to go.

BTW, system specs are,
Phenom X4 2.8Ghz
8GB DDR2-1066
Windows 7 Ultimate
64GB Transend SSD boot drive
1TB drive for games

Bad idea going sli right now for that price as all you will get is old cards that later on will be non existent new.

Either get an ati card in your price range now or wait for nvidia's new stuff which has no hope in hell of selling below $300 anyway.

Best see if you can pick up a good deal on a 5770 and be done with it.

The Radeon 5770 is perfect for the budget
It performs great upto 1920x1200
Will play every single game at maximum settings at 1920x1200 except for just a few titles like CRYSIS

Will be good for more than a couple fo years or so.

It has

DirectX11
Shader Model 5.0
Support for upto 3 LCD's

i'm not saying 5770 or 5750 is a bad choice. i'm responding to the one above my comment. just because the card have DX11 and simply using GDDR5 memory it doesn't mean you're good to go with the card. you have to see performance too.
