New mobo booted only 1 time

My new asrock 870 extreme3 motherboard booted only 1 time could the cpu not be grabbing right because when it booted the only time i got it to boot was with my hand pushing down on it with no fan so as soon as it came on i had to power it off then put the fan on was real happy tryed again and its like it was dead any advice guys. ps powersupply is good ram is good gpu is good...

There is the possibility that the cpu burned due to not having an hsf mounted on it prior to firing your computer or due to not holding it tight enough such that some legs of the cpu lost contact when under power and had eventual electrical damage.

Remove cpu and smell it. Does it smell like it burned ? Inspect legs for proper contact. Re-install cpu and the hsf. If it runs, O.K.

Remove the RAM and CPU, reset the mobo and install the components again.
