Hello,
I am trying to connect my 250GB WD harddrive to my computer running Windows XP SP3. The drive is spinning but will not appear in disk management but will appear in device manager, the driver is aparently latest.
There is are no tell tale visible/audible signs that there is a problem and I used to use it with Windows 8 Developer Preview. It will not show up in ubuntu either.

Could anyone speculate what the problem may be or any fixes?

Thanks in advance

Hello,
Please tell us how you connetc HDD, internally on SATA or IDE or externally on USB/e-SATA ?
Usually you should connect it - not important how - and check in BIOS if he is seen . If not seen there then problem could be with electronic controller on HDD or with cables.
If your BIOS see the new HDD then check if there isn't any conflict on the same IDE - maybe both are master or slave on same IDE cable.
Hope my advices will guide you through.

Good luck and tell us if you succeed !

You know the first rule to lost things: you go back to the place where you last saw them... too much trouble to get around Windöws 8 again?

What about the cable?
