GA-X38-DQ6 1066mhz Memory issue?

Forum Motherboards & Memory : Chipsets & Bios GA-X38-DQ6 1066mhz Memory issue?

Hello,

I have a GA-X38-DQ6 with Intel Q6600, Nvidia 8800gtx and 4gig (4x 1gig sticks) of 800mhz ram... all working fine.

However I just got some new 1066 ram.. 2x 2gig Kingston HyperX.

Why does my bios still show the memory running at 800mhz???

I've not overclocked or anything like that, I didn't think I would have too in order for them to run at 1066mhz?

I have the latest BIOS and use Windows 7 64bit

Q - Are you running BOTH the 800 MHz & 1066 MHz memory?

Initial suggestion, get into BIOS and Load Optimized, Exit and Save. However, if you are running both new and old RAM then the 800 MHz is correct; your BIOS "should" run at the slowest RAM installed.

Reference:
4 x 1.8V DDR2 DIMM sockets supporting up to 8 GB of system memory
Dual channel memory architecture
Support for DDR2 1200/1066/800/667MHz, ECC, non ECC memory modules.

Hiya,

No I replaced the 800mhz with the 1066mhz.

The only way I could get it to run at 1066, was to overclock the cpu Q6600.
