Hello,

I must buy some RAM. I installed Windows 7 x64 on my machine. I would like my machine to run faster. I run many programs simultaneously (maybe 15+ programs)

Right now I have 2 pcs. 1 GB of bricks running dual channel. They are DDRII 667 MHz SDRAM. The motherboard also supports 800 and 1066 mhz.

I'm going to buy 4 GB RAM (2x2). My motherboard has 4 slots and I can have max 8 GB (eg 2 * 4).

My question is whether I should buy 2x2GB 667 mhz and have 6 GB in the machine or I should buy 2x2 1066 mhz and have 4 GB in the machine?

PS - Yes I am aware if I buy an SSD hdd, a hybrid hdd or had a larger cache in my system, I get a faster System. I know that already. My question is whether I should choose faster RAM and only have 4GB or slower RAM and then have 6GB.
Thanks

I would recommend DDR2 800, latencies 5-5-5-15.
You can try using all 4 sticks. Change your BIOS settings:
-- RAM freq to 667MHz and
-- Increase the northbridge voltage one or two bumps up from the default.
