Hi, today i got my pc back, it is meant to have 4GB of ddr2 ram @ 1066 on cpuz it says i have 2Gb of ddr2 ram @ 400. It was supossed to be PC2-8500 but it is infact PC2-6400. could it be that my motherboard is underclocking my ram or have i been ripped of by the shop?

Most memory lists its specs on a sticker. Open the case and take a peek at your memory modules to see if it's listed as PC2-8500 or PC2-6400. Also, check the CPU-Z tab that lists the SPD info. Perhaps the mobo is running the memory at one of the lower SPD profiles.

The second part i have done thats how i know that the ram is running at 400mhz and is 6400, it's also how i know i have 2 gb instead of 4gb.

Got your PC back from where ? Also, it sounds like it's not running in dual channel mode, you don't have the sticks in the right slots, whomever had it swapped out memory and or didn't set it up right after they were done fixing what was wrong with your machine. Does it say dual channel mode or interleaved or unganged and did you try different slots and did you try checking the settings in the bios and making necessary adjustments ?

Just what is the hardware in your machine ?

It also depends on the SPD info. I have DDR2 running at 1066. CPUZ shows my max bandwidth as PC-6400 @ 400MHz (DDR2 800) but my part# is F2-8500CL5.

In the timings table it lists the JDEC at 400 Mhz @1.8v (DDR2 800), but my EPP is 533Mhz @ 2.1v which is DDR2 1066. This is what my board is currently running my memory at. Basically it's overclocked DDR2 800 ram.
