Hello I would like a processor which underclocks well but also runs decently at stock/overclock speeds without getting too hot.
Price isnt a big deal but i dont want to waste money.

Im trying to make a super silent HTPC and would like a processor recommendation. Im not a crazy gamer but would like to play supreme commander 2, mass effect 2. I have to upgrade becuase my current computer cant run HD videos.

I was planning to use an i5 but just becuase it looked like it had the best heat/performance/price.

Any thoughts?

The i5 750 is a fantastic processor. It's pretty much an i7 but without hyperthreading.

If you're into saving energy, and good thermals, you might want to consider an athlon X2 or phenom X2, then unlock the cores.

The main computing power for games comes out of your graphics card. So, invest in a decent one.

Hello :)
i5 750 is a great choice for HTPCs,and for gaming a combination of it and a good VGA(like HD 5770) will give you a good performance
