How to stream movies across the internet??

Ok so i'm trying to stream my video and music collection to other people, friends, family, etc. Alot of them hook their PC to their TV to watch movies and what not. I thought it would be pretty cool to set up some sort of server and host the files and let people stream them over.

So I set up FileZilla, and can connect to my server... I will keep the server up so if anyone wants to connect and actually see what the problem is they are more than welcome to. The login is anonymous with no pw.

Now you can connect to the server and download the two movies I have uploaded fine, but when I open either VLC media player or Windows media player and try to connect to the file to start playing it/streaming the file it doesn't work. It will just play for a second then stop.

Please someone help me, I really want to be able to let people access these files without having to download them. How can I stream my media?


Does anyone have any suggestions to getting this to work or an alternative to an FTP that can do video streams?

I really wanted to do the FTP for ease of use....
