APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: upcoming 2 weeks

BUDGET RANGE: $200-$300 After Rebates

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Surfing internet and Microsoft Word, and that's it.

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: keyboard, mouse, monitor, OS.

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: newegg.com

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: USA

PARTS PREFERENCES: by brand or type: Core 2 Duo (hopefully) or any alternatives to that. Hopefully a dedicated video card.

OVERCLOCKING: NO

Maybe SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Yes / No / Maybe

MONITOR RESOLUTION: N/A

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Preferably small.

You're not going to get (or need) a discrete GPU.

CPU/Mobo: X2 420 and GIGABYTE GA-MA785GMT-UD2H $132
RAM: Kingston 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 $57
HDD/PSU: Seagate 7200.12 500 GB $55
Optical/PSU: Cheapest SATA DVD burner and OCZ ModXStream Pro 500W $58 after rebate
Case: Rosewill R220-P-BK $30

Total: $332. Over budget, but close. This is about as cheap as you can get it...
