as i see from your benchmarks
where the radeon hd 4890 scores more
than a single hd5 770, does that
mean i'll be better off buying
the 4890 than the 5770?

More about : older model

It depends on if you want to use Eyefiniti with multiple monitors or DX11 or not. If you don't care about multi-monitor support and don't care about DX11, the the 4890 is a vastly superior buy. It is faster straight up, but can't do DX11 or Eyefiniti with it. If those things matter to you, the 5770 is what you want.

Hey Nameon,

To make this decision you will need to consider what you need the card for.

If you have a really high resolution monitor (and I mean 1080p+) and need the maximum performance at high resolutions for it the 4890 is a more powerful card. However the 4890 also runs hotter, requires a much more powerful power supply, and doesnt have direct x 11. Personally, I would go with the newer technology (thats cheaper too) over the extra muscle.

You should post your monitor and other system specs for reference, as well as what type of gaming you do.

(Also, ATI will be replacing the 4890 with the 5830 at around $220ish very soon.)

do you heavily play video games or you see movies more and do other things ?
if you play video games 4890 comes more benefit if you want to use eyefinity and have muli-monitors and do gaming less than other things i think you should go for 5770
good luck

I'm sorry but both of these are medium-to-high end gaming cards. A $30 card would be appropriate for watching video. Toms rates the 5770 as "Great 1920x1200 performance in most games" and the 4890 as "Excellent 1920x1200 performance in most games" At resolutions lower than this both cards are capable of maxing out almost any game.
