RC Install - strange problem

Downloaded the RC and burned the image to a DVD no problem. Ran the install on my Vista 32-bit SP1 HP laptop and everything looked OK until it got to the "checking compatibility" part. That runs for a while then comes back with what should be the report, yet the area within the dialog box is blank with the only option being "Close". When I click on the Close button it cancels the upgrade. A HTML file is created on the desktop with what looks to be the report, but it is blank. Am I not waiting long enough?

Laptop is a couple year old HP with AMD Turion X2, 2GB RAM. Plenty of free space, Vista runs fine, albeit a bit slow. I've partitioned the drive and was able to install the RC in a dual-boot config with Vista, so I know it's not the DVD. I wanted to do an in place upgrade to avoid having to install all my programs.
