I recently a upgraded my video to a Radeon 5850, and have decided to get a twin for a cross-fire setup. Really, I don't think my current PSU will support a crossfire setup; here is what I'll be running:
  1. - Q9550 @ 3.6Ghz
  2. - x2 5850's
  3. - x2 VelociRaptors
  4. - x1 7200RPM Sata HDD
  5. - x2 DVD/CD burners
  6. - x2 2500 rpm 120mm case fans
  7. - x2 250mm side fans

First, is my current power supply going to support this? It claims to be CrossFire compatible, yet only has two 6-pin PCI-Express power connectors. If my current PSU is not up to the task of powering this setup, what do I look for in a PSU?

Thanks for the help; I know very little about PSU features.

A good place to start is with the requirements needed to run 2 x 5850 in CF. I.e., AMD's site: http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/graphics/ati-rad...
Quote:
500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express® power connectors recommended (600 Watt and four 6-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode)

Here you can find the PSUs AMD certifies for CF 5850: http://game.amd.com/us-en/crossfire_certified.aspx?cat=...

For researching PSUs, two great sites are:

Here's one for your PSU: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=...

Your PSU is a high quality PSU and it will be sufficient for dual 5850s.

You can use these :

Thank you both ekoostik and shubham.

One more question: what are some symptoms of an under-powered PSU?

Well, It will run hot. You may get frequent BSOD.
Your rig may randomly restart.

But you should not worry about that.Your PSU should be fine. :)
