Some pages not loading in any browser

Hello, for a while certain websites have not been loading in either Firefox or IE. I use Windows XP. Sometimes it says the page is done loading but the page is blank, and sometimes there is an error message that says "The connection was reset." Websites that won't load include polyvore.com and tumblr.com. All other websites I've visited have worked just fine. Please help!
