USB 3.0 @ 5ms/s

Hello!
I recently got a new motherboard with 2 USB 3.0 ports on it. I plugged in my USB 3.0 500g Hitachi external hard drive and I am getting transfer rates of around 5 mb/s!!!!! This is really strange because when I plug it into my USB 2.0 ports I get 36mb/s. Any help would be appreciated, I have USB 3.0 enable on my motherboard too! I even have the latest etron USB 3.0 controller drivers. Thanks!~
