Hi I own a E8400 stock and wondering if replacing the e8400 with a phenom X6 1090T Thuban will give me noticeable improved performance in gaming

I own 4gb of OCZ ddr2 @800mhz platinum ram
and a 4870 1gb version

im planning to move on to a 5870 or gtx 470 and a SSD

so will the change of graphics card and diskdrive be enough or will changing the cpu give big improvements

i want to be able to run games smooth @ 1680 X 1050
such as BF BC 2, GTA IX libertystories, Asasins creed, Crysis 2

changing the cpu and mobo for small gain just doesnt seem worth it.

More about : swap e8400 phenom

What mobo do you have? Can you OC to 3.6GHz?

You may still find a second HD4870 for around $170.

I have a Gigabyte EP43 ds3r mobo and using scyth ninja 2 to cool it running on stock speed

i dont plan on getting a dnother dx10 card, i want to be able to get something future proof like dx11.

but going back to the pain topic Being the CPU, would having 6 cores blow my e8400 out of the window and does it justify the upgrade for playing games like BF BC2, and other near future games?
