More about gaming build 1500
  1. I'd stay away from the OCZ PSU.

    Antec 900 w/ EA-650 $180

Hard Drives - Check out the performance charts and pick whatever 500 GB per platter drive performs best under your usage patterns. The WD Black 2 TB is a good choice but at smaller capacities, you are limited to the Seagate 7200.12 or the Spinpoint F3. The 7200.12 excels in gaming, multimedia and pictures whereas the F3 wins at music and movie maker. See the comparisons here (copy past link in manually, link won't work in forum):

Monitor - Great buy on the 23" but this monitor is my fav TN panel ...if ya can swing the $90

MoBo - This adds USB 3 and SATA III for $15

  2. Thanks for the advice , Jack Naylor. I have swapped out the case and psu for the one you recommened. Don't think I can swing the $90 for the monitor. Will all my other choices work with the MoBo you posted?
  3. bump
  4. Yea, your choices will work with the mobo jack said
  5. Yeah, I only commented on the things you should change, rest is fine
  6. So should I change my current hard drive out for this:

    Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST31000528AS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

I will be doing mostly gaming on this comp.
  7. It's a good choice....also the quietest and coolest of the bunch......can't say anything bad about the F3 tho.
  8. So here is my final build. Let me know if all these will work together with out any problems. This is my first time building a computer and my big fear is that the parts will not work with each other or fit in the case.

If someone with more knowledge says this will work I will go ahead and order it.
  9. I just had someone recommend getting 2 500GB hd instead of the 1TB and to drop ram quality/speed and get 2x4Gb. He recommends that for gaming reason which is mostly what I plan on doing with this comp.
Why are 2 hard drives better for gaming?
What 2x4Gb memory cards would you recommend?
  10. 2 HDDs for a RAID 0 array which speeds up the drives speeds and stuff. and dont bother with 8gb of ram... 4gb is plenty... better off upgrading video card then ram...
