Ok we'll I've been going back and forth deciding what I want for a long time now. And These are the PC setups I've come with from suggestions from others. I just need to decide what's going to be better for the $

Remember, even $10 means alot to me if I can save it. I really don't like spending money. So here we go...

Setup 1:

MoBo: GIGABYTE GA-MA790GPT-UD3H
Psu: Antec Earthwatts 650
$159 http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?Ite...

Case: Cooler Master Scout
DVD: Sony Optiarc 24X DVD burner
$107 http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?Ite...

$95 Processor: AMD Phenom II x2 550 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

$114.99 Ram: G.Skill Ripjaw series http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

$55.99 HD: WD Caviar blue 500GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

$169.99 VideoCard: ATI Radeon HD 4890 Refurbished

Total price out the door: $712

PROS IMO: Case is great. Ram is great. Might be able to unlock 3rd and 4th core on processor. CONS IMO: More expensive then the below setup, not sure which processor is better....

Setup 2:

Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-MA790GPT-UD3H
CPU: AMD Athlon X4 435 Rana 2.9 ghz Triple core
$164

$75 PSU: Antec Earthwatts 650

$55 HD: WD Caviar blue 500GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Case: Cooler Master Scout
DVD: Sony Optiarc 24X DVD burner
$107 http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?Ite...

$98 Ram: A-data 2x2GB DDR3 1600 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

$169 VideoCard: ATI radeon HD 4890 Refurbished http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/ite...

Total price out the door: $690

PROS IMO: Cheap. Good case. I heard the processor is pretty good compared to the Phenom II 720. CONS IMO: Ram isn't as good as the above setup. Not sure if this processor is as good as the above setup.

Setup 3:

Cpu: AMD Athlon X2 Regor 240 2.8 ghz:
Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-MA790GPT-UD3H:
$146 http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?Ite...

Case: Antec TWO HUNDRED S
PSU: Antec Earthwatts 650
$104

VideoCard: ATI Radeon HD 5850
$299

$98 Ram: A-data 2x2GB DDR3 1600 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

$55 HD: WD Caviar blue 500GB

$25 DVD: Samsung 24X DVD

Total price out the door: $752

PROS IMO: Beastly video card. CONS IMO: Bad case compared to other setups, Older Dual core processor. Really expensive compared to other 2 setups.

So which one should I get for the PRICE. I really don't like spending money :p

Start with option 1

changes the case to antec 300 to free up some cash

change the hard drive to the faster samsung f3 500 gig , or seagate 7200.12

the ram looks expensive and I cant get newegg pages to load . Buy low latency 1333 MHz RAM

change the processor to the x2 555 . Better stepping , more chance of unlocking cores .

now you may have enough for the 5850 or a pair of 5770's in crossfire and still be in budget

Outlander my last setup is about as cheap as you can get with the 5850. The antec 300 is out of the price because it doesn't have a combo. There's no Samsung F3 it's out of stock.

Yeah, I'll probably go with the X2 555. Wasn't sure.

This might help Whitefang.

DVD burner ($23, free shipping): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Hard drive ($55, free shipping and better for gaming): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

RAM/Case ($126): http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?Ite...

PSU/GPU ($355, $25 MIR): http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?Ite...

Motherboard/CPU ($197, $10 MIR): http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?Ite...

Total $756, -$35 MIR's. SO even without the MIRs you only go $6 over. You got the 5850 and a 4 core phenom too! The X4 925 has a 6mb L3 cache too. You got the best of both worlds! The case only has one 120mm fan though, if you get your MIR back you can put that into getting a couple 120mm fans. Other than that it looks like your set. Enjoy.

Nah I think I'm just going to go with option #1 but switch the processor for the 555. Then down the road I'll Xfire the 4890. The average fps increase from the 4890 to the 5850 is 5-15. Which to me is not worth $130 extra.

Its your personal preference. I see where you are coming from though. Good luck on your build and hope for no DOA's! Goodluck.

this is true. however your build, squirrel, was awesome and deserved to be purchased. props. apparently the OP was married to his first option because the one you put together includes a much faster cpu/gpu for about the same cost. i'm baffled.

Haha, but being a on budget can do some crazy things to people. (I know from experience! lol) But I understand his predicament. The 4890 is the best bang for buck/performance GPU compared to the 5850. But the 5850 does has Dx11, runs better and cooler, overclocks better (cpu overclocks better too), and is much more future proofed but its what each person wants in their own build. Whitefang wants a cheap gaming pc that he can play NOW with the best bang for the buck and he did that and hes going to deal with all that dx11 and other stuff later which does make sense. WhiteFang would have enjoyed either build and its his decision. Good luck with the build and start saving for that extra 4890!

Haha, you can play with the build. Just leave the PSU/GPU combo and the MoBo/CPu combo. If you can find a cooler case go for it! You can even go $30 over your budget (if you really trust the MIRs lol) and get a better case and leave the RAM and Dvd burner if you want. I knew you wanted a cool case since two of the choices did have the Cooler Master Scout. lol

Well I just said screw it and got the Coolermaster scout case, I switched the Phenom 925 for the Rana 435 and saved $50 so I could get my case.

I know it's pretty stupid that I want this case so bad, but it makes me feel happy and that's all that matters right?? hehe :p

Now which ram should I choose for under $100?

Oh I also wanted GIGABYTE GA-MA790GPT-UD3H for the 8x8 crossfire and the Quad 925 wasn't in the budget with that mobo. I heard there's not much performance difference between the Athlon X4 435 and the Phenom II 925.

Haha your letting that Coolermaster Scout kill you. lol I know you want a cool looking case but that isnt everything, I wouldnt sacrifice performance for a cool case. And nowadays all cases look pretty cool. Do you NEED this computer this weekend? You know you can always wait a week, earn some money here and there, and maybe newegg will have a bigger discount on the Scout or have a better combos with CM Scout. You can always wait on this stuff, unless you have to purchase it this weekend. lol

I agree with squirrel about the case, but if you think the killer looks of a case will make you happier than a bit more performance, then sure you should definitely by the case.

As for me, well I already gave you my opinion in your other thread lol.
