Battery not working

Hello,
I have an Acer laptop and it only works when plugged in however it doesn't charge. When its not plugged in the screen goes black and will only work when plugged in. Can someone help?

Hello and welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums.

The battery may be so dead it can't charge and may go on to be unable to pass power through itself. Find a new one on e-Bay or similar but avoid the cheap Chinese firecrackers and buy a decent one from a trusted source.

Meanwhile, remove the battery and just use mains power.
