Acer AM7720-E7810A, i7-920, HD4850 W7-SP1, no O/C. Upgraded to 12GB Skill 1600, and Velociraptor 150. Use: Video production and backup for gaming.
What are the best Next steps for upgrading for the money?

You have got a nice CPU, and nice RAM.
You could get yourself a new HDD, 150 gb is not enough nowadays.
If you're a gamer I would suggest you get a better GPU, maybe a GPU from the
Radeon HD 5xxx or 6xxx series?
I don't know how much money you have to use, and I do not know what motherboard you have, if you could tell me, I would probably be able to help.

As a backup system for gaming and Video Editing, I see no "best upgrade" your the money (though we need to know your budget).

As tharagon stated, a GPU upgrade would help in gaming and a new hard drive would only make sense if a SSD. As a back up system, the VRaptor is more than enough power and space... IMO.

IMO, I wouldn't upgrade this system at all. I would look to improve your current main system with the money and recycle the parts (if able to) to this system. Or you can save up enough money and go with a Bulldozer or Ivy Bridge later this year.
