Hi, i have read a lot of the theads on this forum and others and am planning to put a build together.

The build will be for gaming, i don't understand how to overclock machines so what can i do with the build? Current cost is $1000 willing to go to $1500

Thank you Saint.

Few questions though if you don't mind answering

For the HDD isn't 64x better?
Why mushkin over g-skill RAM when the same parts are $80 cheaper?
Does a high W PSU increase performance or just get hot and need cooling? (cannot understand their use from tutorials/videos i have read)

For a gaming build i would go with a i5 750 like this

quantity of item 1

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL7D-4GBRH

This will save you 214 bucks VS the X58 build and it can be put elsewhere into the build ( like a new monitor or SSD ) you wont see much differences in games with the i5 750or the i7 920

The rest of saints build looks good ( really his whole build is good but for gaming IMO you don't need to spend the money for a X58 build else you want 3 way Xfire )

It wont increase performance, but it will allow you to add more HDD GPUs DVD down. A good quality PSU is needed to keep your system stable and reduce the chance of it doing damage to other parts of your PC like the mobo GPU

1- I can't understand that you want say with the 64x
2- The G.Skill have a better CL, the only Muskin that have a very good CL is around $230
3- The PSU is for all the system, don't increase the performance. All the PSUs have their fan, with that is enough for cooling it.

Another question. Whats the difference in the 5850 graphics card from powercolor and the same card from XFX? They are different prices

Yeah, you need a 500W PSU at least, the combo that I list comes with a 750W PSU.

Take a look of this i5 vs i7 benchmarks,

i5 vs i7

thank you, agreeing with the build except for the RAM. The OZ one is more expensive and is only 8-8-8, is the g.skill compatible with the CPU? It says Compatible with Dual Channel Intel Core i5
