HD5850 or 5870?

Hey people

I'm going to buy a HD5870 or 5850. But i can't figure out wich one.
The first one is like 100 euro more then the 5850. And that only for 200 more shader processors and higher clocks.

So, wich one should i buy? Its not because of my budget, i can buy each of them. But when i buy the 5850 i still have 100 euro left.
Wich i can spend on a logitech G15

I can already see the price going down too, it was 295 (i have my cheapy sources ) and now its 293 :lol:

Anyways, wich one do you advise? + please give arguments

well i bought a 5850 and is EXTREMELY happy with it, the 5870 isnt worth a 100 euro more. and if you want you can overclock the 5850 to be as good or better than a 5870

i bought the xfx 5850 xxx edition and have overclocked it to 950/1250 @ 1.16 volts and it runs very cool at those settings, in furmark it goes up to about 70c. i get a little over 17000 gpu score in 3dmark vantage

The HD5850 indeed is OC'able to HD5870 levels. Don't bother with the HD5870 unless you plan on crossfiring later.

5850 ftw even if you think of crossfiring imo, it will be much more cheaper than 2 5870s.

Crossfiring two HD4350's is cheaper.

hehe, well i wouldnt think that 2 5870s is worth 200€ more than 2 5850s

There's also the additional heat output, 2x power requirement, and scaling issues.

Just depends on what games he plays. Crysis, Bioshock, Mass effect, get the 5870 and crossfire later. Source games, Dragon Age: Origins, just get a single HD5850.

Im not suggesting that he crossfires right away, sometime in the future when games dont play very well on a single 5850 anyway 5850 FTW, the 5870 is no way in hell worth 100€ more than a 5870 imo only if your rich i would consider the 5870 but with normal income i really suggest the 5850.
