Hello, everyone!

Maybe a easy question to answer for you but absolutely difficult one for me (total newbie)

Which one out performs the other,

7300 GT 512MB or 7600 GS 256MB?

Thanks in advance

Yep the second # ie 6 vs. 3 will indicate the general use it is designed for 0-3 more for office apps, 4-6 general use with some 3d gaming, 7-9 heavier 3d apps including heavier gaming !

So the 7600 is better designed for 3d applications including gaming than the 7300 which is more designed for an office setting.

I've got a 7600 GS 256MB on my PC. Someone is giving me a 7300 GT 512 MB, so I can plug the new one if it brings any improvement.

I can't judge myself so that's why I'm asking.

I don't know which one is best for normal use, some Photoshop and maybe some 3D gaming.

Thank you!

as a side note-- the 256mb vs 512mb number would only really matter if you had a very large monitor.

Since you have both it cant hurt to play around with them though. Put each in and benchmark them for fun :)

Hmm. The cards are actually extremely similar in performance. I would try the 7300GT just to see if the 512mb helps at all.

JDFan is correct in Nvidia's naming nomenclature, but in addition to all that-- GT cards are usually clocked higher than GS cards... So i think that in addition to the ram on 2 monitors evens them out.

Tom's Hierarchy chart puts them in the same performance bracket: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-gaming-graphics-card,2544-7.html
