Hello

So my monitor wont allow settings higher than 1280x1024( and im not going to get a new one, so pls dont come with comments like , you know, get a new monitor ) and im gonna get a new system. I wont build it myself, but a friend of mine can get parts and will build it for me. I'm just wondering, what (amd) processor and which gpu could last me through, say, 2 or 3 years (without bottlenecking eachother ofc) playing the latest games?
i will have 4gb of ram.
sry for my english

thanks

im happy with my monitor.. i just dont like changing graphics card every once in a while :) phenom 2 955 and 5770 was what i had in mind.. but if i go for a hd5750, would i need the same cpu or could i go for an amd triple core or so? ( i'd rather go for 5xxx than 4xxx series btw)

with only 1280x1024 then HD 5750 will be more than enough...

U know, with a higher resolution, the image quality are much better... :)
It's okay if u want to keep your monitor, if that's the case then 5750 is enough.

Not sure about the prices though, the OP may not live in the US. Even so, for such a long planned life, the stronger card and 955 is the better option.
And it'll even support a larger monitor :)

lol let me tell you all that im running an overclocked 5850 (950/1250) on a 1280x1024 and i still could have a better gpu and i dont run for ex crysis at fullAA with 60fps+, it runs on about 30-50 fps and mean its nothing wrong with a 5770 and 1280x1024. he have a good future in graphics ahead of him if he have a 1280x1024 screen and a 5770 graphics card. he can play newer games with good graphics for a longer time than others with full hd for example. but thats just my opinion.

Agreed since it is all to easy to max out most cards at this res.

By the time you actually need to crossfire there will be a cheaper/ better card out.
Something that often gets overlooked with this scenario is that by the time you want to Crossfire two cards that would be at least one if not two generations old the driver support, which is important for Crossfire and SLI alike wont be there.
Sure you can get hold of older drivers but its not something i would like to rely on.

A Phenom 2 955 BE and a 5770 look nailed on to give you a good ride for a long time.
