Not sure if I am in the the right category, but I am upgrading my computer and am wondering if the Phenom II X4 965 Deneb (AM3 125W) is compatible with the K9A2 Platinum V1 (AM2/Am2+, but it says it's AM3 ready) motherboard. I understand through other support boards this is okay as long as a BIOS flash to version 1.8 or 1.9 is done. I called MSI support and they said the 965 wasn't compatible with the board and was told to visit the msi global site and look at the cpu support page for the motherboard. I did and the z965 is listed as a compatible cpu...so I'm confused. Is or isn't the 965 compatible with the K9A2 plat v1 board? If not, what is the highest phenom II cpu that can be put into the board?

Thanks,
Brian

I stand corrected. It will support it with the latest BIOS.

I see why the US tech said it didn't support it, as by going to their site it shows it doesn't. They don't have the current updated CPU support list like the "Global Site".
