So, I've recently ordered 3 monitors, and I already own one HD5850. I've looked around online and I can't find any SOLID information regarding when we will see GOOD suppot for real xfire and EF support. I'm not just talking about "it works for a couple of titles". I want to buy another 5850, but as of right now it seems like wasted money if you are running an EF setup... Any thoughts?

Actually the 10.2 drivers are the first to support Eyefinity and Crossfire at the same time. I did not know these drivers would come out as soon as they did when I wrote my last post. And as far as scalability of two cards Im not sure.

tbh, your frame rates in games like crysis and things like that (the very highest details) must be quite low, the 5770 is a good card, and in xfire its great but when you have three monitors going on it you really want to be on a dual 5850 or above.

You can easily see that 5850 Crossfire starts to take a big hit at 2560x1600. 3 monitor eyefinity is bigger than that.

3x 1920x1080 monitrs would yield 50% more pixels than 2560x1600.

3x 1680x1050 would yield about 25% more pixels than 2560x1600.

Maybe low settings would you get away with 3 monitor eyefinity or a low quality DX9 or DX10 game like Modern Warfare 2. Games like crysis and bad company 2 would take a hefty toll on FPS. If you can even run eyefinity that many games.

I'm running eyefinity on a 5870 at 5760x1080 and can play bad company 2 as long as I don't put my settings on high. If I put everything to medium and turn off AA, it's smooth. I'm waiting for my second 5870 card to arrive this week and then I'm hoping to put everything back on high like it was when I was playing at 1920x1080.

Unfortunatly a lot of people are having problems with eyefinity and crossfire.

for example, i have dual 5970's with eyefinity, all is fine on a single display or even 6040x1200 with eyefinity. however frame rates drop drasticly and games stutter if i enable crossfire.
there are loads of people complaing of exactly the same issue on a number of forums including ati's but so far no reply from ati on a fix.

Eyefinity is still excellent on a single card so still worth doing, but you may wont to hold off on the second card till its fixed

Just google crossfire eyefinity fps drop to see the issues

I've been running two 5870's in crossfire and have the crash to desktop every game and also some of the direct X 11 effects don't seem to work well. If I disable the second video card it works well (no crossfire). I'm running CCC10.8. Not sure if 10.9 will be better but we'll have to wait.

And he should have just got a pair of GTX480's for proper three screen goodness. [:mousemonkey]
