about a month ago, the sound on my daughters compaq laptop suddenly stopped working. since then, i've uninstalled and reinstalled both the bus driver and sound drivers. the sound briefly worked on shutdown and restart and then stopped. Device manager and control panel both show sound as installed and "working properly". Of course, checked all volume controls and none are muted. Running XP sp3 and totally stumped.
