Pentium processor upgrade for windows xp

Hello,I have a 2004 Intel Celeron 2.66Ghz processor on a 2001 motherboard(i dont know much information on the motherboard),which i'm running Windows XP SP3. I was wandering if it was possible to fit a newer processor to my recent motherboard, or would i need to upgrade my motherboard aswell? Thanks! SS

with a two 2001 motherboard that cpu is probably as fast as it gets
If it is not doing the job for you anymore than it is upgrade time
If you are on a budget check out Toms System Builder $500 build
you will find article on home page
it is a good guideline for what you would need and the cheapest build nowadays
BLOWS away a 2004 CPU
Really a decent cheap Intel Atom build will crush that CPU
