ASUS Crosshair IV Formula AM3 AMD 890FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
$220
vs

GIGABYTE GA-890FXA-UD5 AM3 AMD 890FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
$190

Hey Guys,

I thought I had my system all picked out and ready to order for this wknd when I got the newegg.ca thanksgiving newsletter with the above Gigabyte board on sale... Now Im torn and uniformed. Hoping somone will be able to tell me which is better (opinions most welcome). Basically I've budgeted for the $220 but am up for any suggestions, be it an entirely different board.

What I like about the two: USB 3.0 / Sata 6GB / Crossfire option

System will also have:

- AMD Phenom X4 II 965 BE
- 6GB PC2000 DDR3
- 1 x GIGABYTE GV-R587UD-1GD Radeon HD 5870 (Cypress XT) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card w/ Eyefinity

I do not plan on adding a 2nd video card for at LEAST 6 Months

Thank you in advance for your help,

Bull

Both boards are pretty good. I would go with the Crosshair on this one.

Hi.

Currently I have the Gigabyte and is very good but if u have the budget for the CH IV go for it.

Now bear in mind that if u want add a CPU cooler with the Gigabyte u only can use low profile RAM because the RAM slots are very close to the socket.

^Just so you know, the ram slots on the CH IV are the same distance from the heatsink mount bracket as they are on the Gigabyte.
