I'm currently overclocking an AMD A8-5600k cpu. Its running at 4ghz at 1.33v with core temps at load at around 62 C.
In the specs sheet it says the a8-5600k can run at a max core temp of 74 C yet I keep reading that the max safe OC temps are actually lower at around 60-65 C with the amd specified 74 C taken into account. I'm wondering if its true and why?
First off, make sure you have ample case air flow and that you have an aftermarket cooler, never overclock on the stock cooler. Also those temps are a little high but 62 degrees celsius is ok if you get that temperature in prime 95 as you will never max that temperature in real world use unless in is a 4 or 5 hour resource intensive gaming session. Its not that it wont work past 65, even 75, you are just killing your CPU's life span and opening yourself up for possible system crashes, instability, and early CPU failure.
