i have 955 that came with a free 890 motherboard and i plan to return it and get a thuban 1055t thats also comes with a 890 mobo while adding $40, my last system was a lame Pentium 4 478 and this is my first major upgrade to a new system(sort of since im recycling most of my old parts: HDD, Case, PSU, DVDrw) so should i keep the daneb 955 or go ahead with getting the thuban 1055t?

i really dont mind paying the extra $40 dollars but if they work the same in gaming im ok with 2 extra cores for other stuff i might need them for like video/audio conversions(which my old P4 takes a long while to do nowadays)

Hi.

1- What 890 mobo?
2- Today u maybe won't see a big difference with a quad-core or a six-core, since only few games can use the 4 cores.
3- What other components u want install with the rig?

the 955 i have now came with a free MSI 890GXM, the 1055t they offered comes with a free Gigabyte 890GPA Mobo
i have 1tb SATA II HD, 630watt psu, DVDrw and im gona get a 5770 and 4gb DDR3 1333

my last system had a Pentium 4 478 4ghz, Intel 865PEPro 2 mobo, 7800GS AGP 256mb DDR3 256bit, 3gb DDR400(which will all be sold), i was always too cheap to upgrade but most games nowadays wont even play on medium settings with my old system so this is a considerable major upgrade for me

as long as the 1055t works the same as a 955 im fine paying the extra $40

Would get the 1055T

More future proof.

But, the 955 IS faster as of now, But I expect firmware updates to fix that.

1- IMO both mobos aren't very good for the processor.
2- A 5770 with a Thuban is a bottelneck for sure.
3- My advice? Get the 955 OC it to 4GHz (like me), get a better mobo and GPU and in the future upgrade to the Thuban.

A good GPU for your rig is the 5850, or two 5770 in Crossfire.

Good. sometimes the 5770 in Crosffire performance better that the 5850. But with only a 5850, u can add another one in the future.

Nice CPU.

keeping 955 i bought for $184 that came with MSI 890GXM mobo because the 1055t + Gigabyte 890GPA offer is $288, a good $100 difference that i can keep and put on my 5850 budget, thanks for all the input

Your mobo can use any RAM speed, the difference is that only support 1333 without OC.

Almost forget, the Gigabyte 890FXA-UD5 is on stock in the egg.
