What to get? Daneb 955 or Thuban 1055t, price isnt an issue

i have 955 that came with a free 890 motherboard and i plan to return it and get a thuban 1055t thats also comes with a 890 mobo while adding $40, my last system was a lame Pentium 4 478 and this is my first major upgrade to a new system(sort of since im recycling most of my old parts: HDD, Case, PSU, DVDrw) so should i keep the daneb 955 or go ahead with getting the thuban 1055t?

i really dont mind paying the extra $40 dollars but if they work the same in gaming im ok with 2 extra cores for other stuff i might need them for like video/audio conversions(which my old P4 takes a long while to do nowadays)

More about what daneb thuban 1055t price isnt issue
  1. Hi.

    1- What 890 mobo?
2- Today u maybe won't see a big difference with a quad-core or a six-core, since only few games can use the 4 cores.
3- What other components u want install with the rig?

^ Get the 1055T, Even tought the 955 is faster, they are the same price, and hopefully somethign will change in he future.

the 955 i have now came with a free MSI 890GXM, the 1055t they offered comes with a free Gigabyte 890GPA Mobo
    i have 1tb SATA II HD, 630watt psu, DVDrw and im gona get a 5770 and 4gb DDR3 1333

my last system had a Pentium 4 478 4ghz, Intel 865PEPro 2 mobo, 7800GS AGP 256mb DDR3 256bit, 3gb DDR400(which will all be sold), i was always too cheap to upgrade but most games nowadays wont even play on medium settings with my old system so this is a considerable major upgrade for me

as long as the 1055t works the same as a 955 im fine paying the extra $40
  4. Would get the 1055T

    More future proof.

But, the 955 IS faster as of now, But I expect firmware updates to fix that.
  5. 1- IMO both mobos aren't very good for the processor.
    2- A 5770 with a Thuban is a bottelneck for sure.
3- My advice? Get the 955 OC it to 4GHz (like me), get a better mobo and GPU and in the future upgrade to the Thuban.
  6. ok how about a 5830 i dont mind adding to a better video card or even a 577 crossfire
  7. ^ No 5830 is a fali.

    Get either 5770 or 5850.

ok i can get my hands on a 5850 as low as $250

wait how about a 5770 crossfire? good or bad for the 1055t?
  9. A good GPU for your rig is the 5850, or two 5770 in Crossfire.
  10. ^ Go 5850 route.

But for gods sake, Stay awau fromt eh 5830!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is a strong contenteder for wrost chip ever amde!
  11. thanks so much for the info haha, im returning my 955 tomorrow and getting the thuban and invest in a 5850 or 5770 crossfire

i apologize since 1) im new to AMD and ATI and 2) this is my new system from a really old system so its safe to safe im flying a bit blind
  12. ^ I would do the 5850.

Have fun out there, Sincerely, Bob.

(Just never, never ever look at the 5830!!!!!)
  13. Good. sometimes the 5770 in Crosffire performance better that the 5850. But with only a 5850, u can add another one in the future.

    Nice CPU.
  14. keeping 955 i bought for $184 that came with MSI 890GXM mobo because the 1055t + Gigabyte 890GPA offer is $288, a good $100 difference that i can keep and put on my 5850 budget, thanks for all the input
  15. No problem.

Good deal on Mobo and Cpu there, at Frys? Micrcenter?
  16. fry from last week, now they offer a X4 945 with an MSI 790X mobo for $139, im still swinging by frys tomorrow to pick up Corsair 4gb mem (2gbx2) for $79

im curious as well if a 955 can bottleneck 5850 crossfire?
  17. ^ 1. No

    2. If you want I can sell you 2x 2gb DDR2 for 50$+Ship.
  18. the memory im getting is DDR3 1333 and my mobo can only use ddr3
  19. ^ Ah, Ok.

Thats a good deal on DDR3.
  20. frys deal, like the mobo and cpu i got
  21. Your mobo can use any RAM speed, the difference is that only support 1333 without OC.

Almost forget, the Gigabyte 890FXA-UD5 is on stock in the egg.
  22. ^ Woah, Nice board.

But i atil likw thw 790FXGD70.....
