Which Vid Card should I buy with this monitor?

Hey all, I have this monitor.

Im looking at buying either a ATI 5770, 2 ATI 5770's Crossfired, or a single ATI 5850.

I have a I7 920 CPU with the ASRocks X58 extreme Mobo.


Which Vid Card should I get and why? I can get 2 5770's for $20 more than the 5850 and they out perform the 5850 quite well.

Would anything more than one 5770 be overkill? I built my system to last at least 3 years and who's to say I wont get a new monitor within that time?

1024x768 resolution, single 5770, crossfire in 1-1.5 years.

What resolution you planning to game at? At its maximum reso of that random number, id go with a single 5850 and CF later if needed, if the 'optimal' reso of 1024x768, a 5770 will be more then enough

The resoultions on that monitor do go higher than 1024x768. I can easily game in 1280x1024.

Im guessing you may game at 1600x1200? possibly? I would recommend a 5850 right now, and CF later if needed in a couple years

With a max resolution of 1792x1344 (assuming that's supported by games)...

I recommend a HD 5850, even if you were to use 1600 x 1200...

The resoultions on that monitor do go higher than 1024x768. I can easily game in 1280x1024.

If those are the resolutions you will be gaming at then just get the HD5770 as it will already be massive overkill and still be quite good even for your max res. This one for $130 is a great deal;
