I'd just loaded windows xp on a new sata II hard drive. I had to load the drivers for the Toshiba Tecra A8 EZ-8312 laptop. I got a THotkey plug in error. I want to reformat the HDD & reload windows. What function key at rebooting will go to DOS? I tried the command prompt & its prohibited while a program (Windows) is running. Please assist. Thanks, Phil

When you reload Windows you will have the option to format the drive.

Thanks. I bought a used Thermaltake ST0005U 2.5"/3.5" ESATA-USB dock station. I formatted the HDD & reloaded w. O/S & Application S/W; Windows XP Pro & Office Pro. The laptop is a Toshiba A8 EZ-8312. I'd been using AVG-8 anti-virus for years. However, I learned the hard way that it doesn't block ALL malware. Now, I've switched to AVAST anti-virus. As my laptop is a 2006 era & don't have the install/recovery disks, I've had to download the (5) primary drivers (LAN/WIFI/Video/Audio/Chipset). I'm just tweaking the Audio drivers now, as they're all downloaded as zipped files.
