6000+ suffering

ive noticed in metro 2033 and in battlefield bad company 2 multiplayer that i have some strange bottlenecking going on ... all other games except gta4 thats badly coded work great. i have the 6000+ 2mb with a 5770 1 gig . and 3 gig ddr800 performance ram. i suspect its the cpu .... AMIRITE ? playing on a res of 1920x1080. games like cod4 , cod5 , cod6 , resident evil 5 , dragon age , mass effect 1 and 2 all work 100% .

what could be the issue ? i think the cpu has too little cache to go with the flow.

im thinking of a good athlone 2 x2 or x3 cpu to do an upgrade as the cash flow is really limited

At those resolutions, both the gpu & cpu are struggling to cope up.
Games like COD 4,5,6, Resident Evil don't really tax the cpu/gpu & the 6000+ & 5770 can give good frame rates.
On the other hand, Metro 2033, Battlefield BC2 are much more cpu/gpu intensive & you do need a beefier system to play flawlessly at that resolution.
Replacing the cpu could do a world of good. Is your mobo socket am2+ supported? I yes, this is a good one : AMD Phenom X3 8750 $73.99

yeah its am3 so shoving in any amd cpu will do . but the cashflow is limited, hmm i live in south africa and i think newegg doesnt ship here lol . i dont know where to look otherwise for it . i check newegg's products and what the people say about it before i usually buy things locally.


i know metro is physx related and heavy on it . so i can forgive the cpu/gpu for that hehe . but battlefield bad company 2 with a custom gfx config file and it still doesnt help. changing dx versions dont even help lol . well ok dx9 runs slightly better but not really by much.

that tri core has a really good price imo R517 and thats excluding imports.

i got a phenom 2 555 black edition with no cooler going to get a custom cooler for it . is that a good upgrade ? i managed to unlock all the cores too

^Yes that well be a great upgrade. It will perform similar to a Phenom II Quad core!!

That CPU can handle games at your resolution
