{GA-G31M-ES2L Rev.2) 2X1G 800 Kingston ram , Thermaltake 430 P/S Intel E5200 CPU. XP Home 32bit,soon to go to Win 7. This setup has an older X16 PCI Express graphics slot. What I need to know is an inexpensive card that will suffice for light gaming , using a LCD 17 (1024x768) Monitor. Lots of choices. I 'm just looking for a sound performer, that won't kill the Power supply or the Bank. thanks all. P.S. not overclocking.

Hi there,

I think you would be well served by an ATI 4650. With such a low resolution monitor you really dont need much power at all.

Suggestion: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161303&cm_re=4650-_-14-161-303-_-Product

Any card you find in this price range will be ok on your PSU--it would only matter if you went above $100 or so.

Also-- read this Tom's article on graphics cards. The under $80 section is good for you--and the hierarchy on the last page will help you compare other cards not on the list.

Edit: just to clarify PCIe x16 1.0 and 2.0 are backward compatible with each other.
