Okay, so I need some advice on a power supply for my future pc build.

I will give you a rundown of the components I plan on using.

G.Skill Rip-jaw Series 4gb 1600mhz: (Plan on reaching 1800's with them) (Eventually will be running 4 of these.)

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition: (Plan on overclocking above 4.0)

ASUS Crosshair IV Formula:

XFX 5870: (Plan on eventually using 3 of these)

I also plan on throwing some ssd's in there also. I was think a 1,000w power supply would power all of this efficiently.

Any thoughts?

Don't go for 3 way SLI with GTX 480's.

It will produce much more heat than 3x 5870.

One thing to note is 2 way CF will give you decent performance. But third card won't give you much of a boost.

This review says you should get a 1000W PSU for HD5870 3 Way CFX..

Fail. They didn't test actual power consumption.

3x5870 get:
Corsair 850HX
XFX Black Edition 850w

If you want to go with SLI Fermi (and Intel) instead, I'd follow the advice here:
But I'll mention that the Enermax Revolution85+ 1050w > Corsair 1000HX. Even Corsair's own rep admits it:

First of all, you can SLI on AMD chipsets; Second, a three-way SLI of a fermi needs at least a 1200W psu, and some bacon or steak.

I think you meant can't.

wkoalmc2011 - Things are getting a little jumbled - ATI, AMD, Nvidia, Intel, Crossfire, and SLI.

First things first - Originally you mentioned using three ATI Radeon HD 5850 video cards with an Asus Crosshair IV AMD motherboard. What do you hope to accomplish by installing three video cards? Please be specific so we can put things in perspective.

Second, it sounds as if your might be a hardcore gamer. Which games do you like to play? Again, please be specific. Not all games have the same requirements or performance characteristics.
