Hi,

I'm buying 'Intel Xeon X5650' Processor + 'Intel S5520SC' Workstation Board. I would like to overclock my CPU by 25%. Is it possible to do so?

If yes, do i need to fiddle around with board also or just a CPU ?

Thanks
Andy

Well, you could if the Intel S5520SC motherboard supports overclocking. You'd probably need an aftermarket HSF as well. However, the main point of getting a Xeon is for stability and overclocking can cause instability. If you want to overclock and only need one processor, then get a Core i7 980X - unless you have demands which require more than 12 threads and 24GB.

I'm just wondering though, why get one Xeon X5650 and a DP board? Are you thinking of adding another one later on?

Can u tell me what all types of RAM are supported by this board by visiting this link:
http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=36600

Its says MEMORY SUPPORTED: DDR3-UDIMM, ECCUDIMM
Does that mean i can use non-ecc RAM with this board ?

Thanks
