Hey guys I am looking into building a new computer (my first time) and I am wondering whether or not this system will work together:

Raidmax (918WB) Ninja Gaming Case
AMD PHENOM II X4 955 BLACK ED RETAIL
SAPPHIRE RADEON HD5850 1G GDD5
WESTERN DIGITAL CAVIAR 250GB SATA2
2GB DDR3 1333 MHz 9 DIMM Memory (x2)
SAMSUNG SH-S223 22X DVDRW
AsRock M3A785GMH/128M MB, AMD 785G+ SB710

And I am still wondering what PSU to get because I'm working on a budget of around $1500 (NZD, roughly $1000 USD) also I have so far been able to get all this for $1489 and dont mind going over budget by about $100 - $150 for the PSU.

Thanks guys

Will you be ordering online? If so can you post a link to the site so we can see what the prices and selection are.

You may be able to save a bit with a 2x2GB kit of ram rather than getting two sticks individually, it tends to save $5-10 on newegg.

250GB HDDs are fairly old so their price is increasing again, on newegg all of the WD 250GB drives are ~$45, you can get a 500GB Samsung F3 for $55 which is significantly faster.

I realize selection, and pricing are very different in your region so please post a link to their website as it makes pricing it out alot easier.

LOOKS OK ... at first glance ... would still be nice to have the product links, from newegg or somewhere, so specs can be cross-checked.

compatibility of the socket, ram, and PSU connectors can bite ya.

So, One thing that I cannot absolutely verify, from the case specs, is "will it host this smaller mobo ? "

The mobo is a small form factor ... mini-ATX? ... micro? ... I've lost track!
BUT, the case spec usually states which board form factors are supported, and I do not see that here.

... I'll keep reading your specs, now.

The mobo and cpu are socket compatible ... I see the bus speed listed for the chip, but not the mobo ... 99% sure this is a perfect match.

I prefer full-sized ATX mobos ... especially if you're going w/mid-tower, anyway.
Do I need to explain the (several) reasons why? I don't think cost is a factor.

FYI (everybody) ... this is DUAL CH RAM

... Nice choice of CPU, tho ... it is my favorite component, so far.

... I don't see anything that won't work, so far, but little mobos invite headaches.
(especially full featured ones!)

... I'll keep reading. ...

I wouldn't worry too much, about the case ... because, to support smaller mobos only requires drilling a few more holes and almost all mid-towers do that.

Thanks I didnt notice that it was a mATX mobo, and I am already starting to push my budget limits, but personally mATX mobos are very annoying - in my few instances of upgrading our computer.

Well your graphics card is a great one and it is "OUT OF STOCK" ...

I don't know the exchange rate, for NZ$, but that price looks pretty steep, even for USA ... You pay VAT?

ALSO ... I am sure you must have noticed that your mobo comes with Ati integrated graphics. I don't know what your plans are for using on board graphics. If you plan to disable the igpu, then why pay for it.

It may (*might*) be true that some mobos will allow you to run integrated graphics, concurrently to your PCIe card (as multi-mon setup) but I would definately research and verify that. I surely do not know.

When you first bring the system up, it might be confused (or you might be) about which output port is selected, for video. Make sure your BIOS has the correct port selected and, if you can't see anything, at boot, then plug your mon into the system video port(s) (whichever might be active) and then cycle the power. I think you understand me ... ?

** not to worry you but be aware that your video card is a very long card. Nice to find a case that is purpose-designed with SLI in mind. *** I would not spaz-out worrying if the card will fit (cause you can mod the drive cage if necessary) but some of the user reviews on the longer cards do mention some issues with case-fit **

Cool, thanks for telling me about the igpu (I dont know what it means but I am guessing that it is your onboard?) and I don't know what VAT is? Also can u elaborate on the mon & BIOS thing? lastly, I found this http://www.bigbruin.com/reviews05/raidmaxninja/index.ph... and it has some good specs on it.

The mobo you selected has a (relatively low power) graphcs "card" built onto it.

... from the specs: . . . " Integrated AMD Radeon HD 4200 graphics, "

which is roughly comparable to this PCIe card ...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

... prolly not even as good as the PCIe card ... just guessing.

Looks good ... you would need to recheck your ram and PSU (8+2) ...
... I do not see a 4x slot (for certain crossfire configs) so you may want input from others, on that. I do not know how limiting that might be, were you to add a second graphics card.

A single Radeon 5850 gives you as much power as you are likely to desire, given that you are not already obsessed with SLI and extreme O.C.

Hey, Kitty,

You wanna see the coolest case on Earth ?

Search on "Antec Lanboy Air" ... Isn't that what it is called?

I'll certainly pay US $150+, for that "Jungle Gym" !

Haa! That really is terrifying ... It really is staring at me! No way I could "get it up" with that thing watching me ... This space suit makes things plenty difficult enough, as it is.

Lol - I've seen the clip of water in zero gravity and it makes me ask the question, what does a 'load' look like? LOL

I have looked at it, and thought about waiting for the lanboy air. Went with a k-62 dragon lord case and its the best decision i have made in a while ;)  The quality and airflow of this thing is just superb, plus you can only see one wire..and that is because i didnt want to buy an extension for the 4 pin CPU power connector ( Older PSU so it isnt quite as long _) lol.

But anyway will that PSU fit and will it be enough to power my system?

All I can say is that it gives a whole new meaning to the term "Floater" ... The smell isn't that noticible, tho, after a few weeks in these duds!

Only 100 bucks. But i had to pay 20 bucks shipping.

Right now its on sell for 99.99 ( retail is usually 130 apparently ) with free shipping with code EMCYNZW42 And if you combo it with the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... SATA DVDRW burner you get a 20 dollar combo discount, making the burner free :D
