thief opening intro missing.

if you were like me, you sat through all five or six of the 'this game plays
better with this gfx card or snd card' ads/logos hoping to see a thief I or
thief ][ intro.

alas, no intro.

recently I found out they made one and put it on the cd, but for some stupid
reason did not write the one line of code to add it in the beginning of the
game.

I know I am probably not the first one here to have found this out, but if
anyone wants to add the intro back in all they need to do is open the
default.ini file in the thief - deadly shadows/system directory and change
the line that reads:

ShortIntroMovies__t=d:\content\t3\VideoTextures\eidos-logo.bik;d:\content\t3
\VideoTextures\ionstorm-logo.bik;d:\content\t3\VideoTextures\Copyright.bik;d
:\content\t3\VideoTextures\nvidia.bik;d:\content\t3\VideoTextures\eax.bik

to:

ShortIntroMovies__t=d:\content\t3\VideoTextures\ThiefTrailerNoESRB.bik


COPY DEFAULT.INI FILE FIRST, JUST IN CASE!

oh, and if this was already discussed, sorry.

Ummmm, are you sure? because it runs on my copy, you just
have to wait about a minute after the "Start Game" screen.
Don't select anything, just wait and it'll come up.

I'd hate for people to edit their .ini files for nothing.

I can't believe they didn't set this intro to run at startup

Or you can simply wait a minute or so at the main menu and it will play
automatically.

I never saw it, and I always let a new game install go thru the whole
opening scene and ads. It's completely unexpected to have the intro show up
well after the main menu is displayed.

I disagree. The edit gets rid of the useless company logos and gets you
right to the intro video. A good thing.

I only noticed because someone interrupted me as I started the game and
when I came back the movie/demo was playing.
