DVD writer can read CDs but unable to burn

Hello,

My DVD writer can read CDs but it can't write cds. I have tried both Nero express 7 and CD burner XP.

Recently my motherboard stopped working and I bought a new one this may have damaged the burner. Installed the motherboard drivers but I didn't reinstall XP.

I haven't used the burner for some time so I cannot be sure when it stopped working but I haven't used it after I got the new motherboard.

I tried uninstalling the driver an d reinstalling and also tried several brands of cds.

The CD writer is TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-S182F
The computer is running Windows XP SP3
Current Motherboard is ASRock G31M-S

did you replace the motherboard like for like or with a different one? if it's a new motherboard model, try reinstallin windows, plus make sure youve updated your Nero to the latest version as I seem to remember that some of the earlier v 7 copies had problems with SP3's atapi driver....

I replaced it with a different motherboard and also CD burner XP had the problem too. I'l try reinstalling windows.
