My current RTV 3030 mu be about 5 years old and I upgraded to a 80 gb
hard drive about 4 years ago. It has served me well until recently and
now I am getting "jerky video and sound" which I assume is caused by
the HD going bad. I also subscribe to Dish and I know they sell PVR's
now too. When I purchased the RTV 3030 I bought the lifetime
membership. Is it worth for me to replace the HD again or has the video
technology changed so much that it would be better to purchase a new
PVR? I still have the Disk image copy programs that I used originally
to install the new disk. Thanks for you help.

If they will still transfer the Lifetime sub to a new unit then upgrade.
If not, just replace the disk. I have a 3030 as well a number of 5000
series and there's really no difference in the video quality. You might
find that your HD may even still be under warranty but even if not, an
80gb drive is pretty cheap.
