Asus p5qpl-am problem

Hello,i have bought a new asus-p5qpl-am board and 1gb 800mhz kingston ram. my processor is intel core2duo e6300. the system starts and after a while i hear two beeps one short and another one-a little long..the monitor keeps blinking. motherboard and ram are new. whats the problem? is it the processor?
