I am currently building my first desktop and I have a question about motherboard/memory compatability. I recently purchased the ASUS P7P55D motherboard and an Intel Core i5-760. I was looking through the User Guide for the motherboard, looking for the memory model number that I want to buy (G.Skill F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
I could not find the model number of this particular model number on the list, and it didn't list any on ASUS's website, so I thought I might ask around here. If it does not show up in the User Guide, does that mean it is not compatible? I have seen that some people have this same motherboard and memory configuration so I was just wondering.
It should work, not all compatible RAM gets listed in the QVL - and not all QVLs get updated. Follow the settings shown on the stickers attached to the modules to set the RAM BIOS settings for frequency (1600MHz), latencies, and voltage.
Ok great! Now I just want to clarify something really quick. Since the 760 has a 2.8GHz frequency as opposed to the 750, I can use the 1600MHz DDR3 without enabling DRAM OC Profile in the BIOS? Also, my friend told me to also take a look at some different RAM. So should I get:
